Dunhill: Shell Briar (5213) (2021) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-5894

A soft heel, rounded, plump bowl and gradual taper to the rim ensure a comfortable fit in hand from this robust Group 5 bent Apple from Dunhill. The gracefully arcing shank and elegantly downturned saddle stem further that relaxing aesthetic and should hang easily from the jaw. Lightweight and sophisticated, this "13" is dressed in the marque's old-school Shell Briar finish, the dark color palette fomenting class and formality, while showcasing the briar's handsome grain patterns, including tightly stacked growth rings on the left flank.

The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
