Dunhill: Bruyere (4108F) (2021) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5930
Dunhill's "08" can denote either their Rhodesian or Bulldog shape, depending on the shank's shaping, with the rounded version of shank designating this rendition as the former. In Group 4 size, this is robust rendition of the shape, opting for a stout sense of muscularity through the bowl and shank balanced by the angled transition and bent stem. The characteristic beadlines are present, wrapping around the top of the bowl, demarcating the tapered rim from the rest of the stummel. This particular example has also been drilled to accommodate a 9mm filter, as distinguished by the "F" stamp in the nomenclature.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
