Dunhill: Chestnut (4105F) (2020) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5966
This "05" from Dunhill is a classic take on the Dublin design, with the flared rim and subtle taper resulting in a firm heel. The bowl sits at the front of an arrow-straight shank and stem that anchor most of the visual weight up front with sleek, low-slung lines. In Group 4 size, this is a versatile piece of briar, boasting a respectable chamber depth and sturdy in-hand substance. It wears the smoky stain and features the cumberland stem of the Chestnut series, and this piece is further distinguished by being drilled to accommodate a 9mm filter.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.
