Dunhill: Shell Briar with Silver (3109) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6021
This Canadian is part of a Dunhill limited release that features Shell Briar finished pipes paired with silver accents and cumberland stems. A classic rendition of the shape chart standard, this piece features a Group 3 Billiard bowl with an extended oval shank in timeless proportions. Sleek yet hearty, the long shank is adorned with a textured silver band that meets a comfortably abbreviated stem in cumberland. The Shell Briar sandblast allows the briar's natural grain to create finely textured swirls that please the eye as well as the fingers. This combination of classic Dunhill features makes for a handsome and highly collectible pipe.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
