Dunhill: Shell Briar with Silver (4110) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6055
As part of a limited edition release from Dunhill, this "10" Bing's Favorite Billiard pairs the English marque's striking Shell Briar sandblast with one of their brindled cumberland stems, fostering a distinctive and rather eye-catching visual palette. Presented in Group 4 size, this piece features a tall, upright bowl that rises proudly at the fore of a lengthy, slender, and arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement. The shank and stem keep the overall composition sleek in profile and lightweight in hand, while the bowl offers plenty of briar for wrapping-fingers to embrace. A sterling silver accent graces the junction and provides a pop of flash to the design for further visual appeal.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
