Dunhill: Ring Grain with Silver (3202) (2022) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-6077

Dunhill's "02" bent Billiard is an iconic shape that's been on the English marque's pipe chart since the 1930s, a testament to its enduring appeal to generations of pipe smokers. This particular Group 3-sized rendition is part of a special release that finds the iconic shape dressed in the dark Shell Briar sandblast and fitted to a saddle stem of ruby-hued cumberland. Tying the whole composition together, a sterling silver band adorns the junction between the upturned shank and arcing mouthpiece, adding a dose of flash to the whole form. The shadowy sandblast unveils striking growth rings about the bowl, earning this piece the prestigious Ring Grain designation.

Having earned the English marque's prestigious Ring Grain designation, this Dunhill piece wears a particularly choice iteration of the Shell Briar sandblast — displaying stunning waves of ring grain across the stummel. The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
