Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Churchwarden (3) (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6098
Dunhill's Quaint series offers unique designs that fall outside of the marque's standard shape chart. This Churchwarden is a particular striking example of the series, as it's not often we see a long-stemmed variant from the English firm. Shape-wise, this piece boasts a Rhodesian bowl of Tomato-like breadth that's poised at the fore of an upturned shank and a long, arcing stem. The extended length of the stem ensures that any smoke or heat from the bowl will stay far from the eyes. Dressed in the ruby hues of the Bruyere smooth finish, the stummel presents a luscious display of grain about the bowl.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
