Dunhill: Bruyere (5120) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6110
Offering a gently inflated, smooth rim and a forward cant to its cylindrical bowl, this "20" Cherrywood from Dunhill is sleek and refined, retaining an appreciative gracefulness despite its Group 5 size. The high-set transition and elegantly downturned stem lend the profile a softer disposition than some of its more firm-lined, rigid brethren, while still maintaining the classicism of the marque's standard shape chart: all dressed in the deep, warm tones of Dunhill's historic Bruyere finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.--Davin Hylton
