Dunhill: Chestnut (2102) (2018) Tobacco Pipe

Dunhill's "02" bent Billiard is a tried and true shape, a classic on their standard shape chart. Here, the piece is rendered in a Group 2 size, creating a svelte, lean profile that accentuates its fine craftsmanship and fluid lines. With its stout, cylindrical bowl, smooth transition, and S-curve, this piece is elegantly rendered, flowing from rim to bit. The arcing cumberland stem pairs beautifully in color with the stummel, as well as making it an excellent jaw-hanger, especially in such a lithe size. Dressed in Dunhill's gorgeous Chestnut finish, the stummel's grain patterns and birdseye are hidden behind a dark haze, until the light strikes it in just the right way.

A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.
