Dunhill: Root Briar (3103) (2014) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6160
Dunhill's "03" shape is widely regarded as the archetypal Billiard, the platonic form, if you will, the perfect ideal of the shape from which all others are derived. This example is among Dunhill's finest renditions. Thoroughly traditional in style, the pert bowl rests on a soft heel at the fore of a perfectly balanced round shank fitted with a tapered vulcanite stem. Dressed in Dunhill's esteemed Root Briar finish, the stummel displays fine flame grain around the bowl, with sections of swirling birdseye, all highlighted by the briar's honey-blonde finish.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.-Gabriel Bass
