Dunhill: Shell Briar Quaint Dublin Sitter (5) (2018) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6204
Poker meets Dublin in this piece from Dunhill, finding a place in the English workshop's Quaint series, which is reserved for renditions that don't quite ascribe to The White Spot's systematized shape chart. It presents the flattened heel and sitting capability of a Poker, but the bowl trumpets upward like a creatively stylish Dublin, with a defined base, cinched waistline, and slightly domed rim. It makes for the perfect desk pipe, but one far more individual and distinct compared to the standard Poker or Dublin and is dressed in the inky sandblast of the Shell Briar finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
