Dunhill: Bruyere White Spot Billiard with Silver (35) (F/T) (3361) (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6299
Dunhill's White Spot series is a special release from the marque that presents hand-numbered pipes in shapes that have been resurrected from the brand's vintage shape chart. Each of these pipes come complete with a broad silver band that bears the name of the series, adding a regal dose of flair that further sets these pipe apart from Dunhill's standard portfolio. This "35" Billiard is every bit as classic as one would expect, with a plump, tall bowl that features a touch of curvature about its walls for a comfortable feel in hand, all sat atop a nicely rounded heel. A wide transition gives way to a low-set shank that extends out to meet the aforementioned band of silver at the junction, before being married to a sleekly tapering length of jet-black vulcanite in the mouthpiece. Dressed in the warm hues of the classic Bruyere finish, this pipe is certainly a timeless piece, showcasing handsome grain within a restrained palette that elevates the composition wonderfully.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
