Dunhill: Cumberland (5112) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6328
The "12" Stack from Dunhill is an old shape: In an earlier form it was the basis of one of the "windshield" pipe designs that Alfred Dunhill himself once marketed as ideal for automobile drivers. This Group 5 version is a more traditional rendition of the shape and perfect for those who appreciate hearty chamber, adding a bit of stoutness as well as overall increase in scale and chamber to the form when compared to Group 3 and 4 versions.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."-Truett Smith
