Dunhill: Shell Briar (3105) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6415
A handsome rendition of the classic Dublin, this "05" from Dunhill features a pert, Group 3-sized bowl that flares from its conservative heel to its broad, softly inflated rim. Said bowl is paired to a trim, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement that keeps the shape looking sleek and well-balanced in profile. The crisp, inky Shell Briar sandblast completes the ensemble and highlights textured grain across the bowl and shank alike.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
