Dunhill: Cumberland (4603) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6600
The "03" Billiard is one of Dunhill's most iconic shapes, however, this rendition of the "03" revises the traditional Billiard proportions. The classically inclined stummel is paired to a Churchwarden stem that arcs downward in a gentle, Prince-like bend, dramatically elongating the conventional profile of the "03." Dressed in Dunhill's cumberland finish, the elongated stem features the black and mahogany hues of the namesake material, while the stummel is dressed in a rugged sandblast for a rustic look.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."--Zach Podl
