Dunhill: Chestnut (3101) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6613
Dunhill's Chestnut finish is a reserved one, presenting briars in an extra, extra dark walnut stain and a cumberland stem. When you pair it with classic, clean-lined shapes like this "01" Apple, the result is a classy pipe perfect for more formal occasions, yet still warm enough for a take-anywhere smoke — especially here in the modest Group 3 size. The bowl up front is quite plump, with plenty of supple roundness about its build, and its pairing to a wide transition lends it a comfortable feel in hand. The proportions are excellent here, as is the par for the White Spot, and its charming demeanor only enhances its appeal.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-John McElheny
