Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Bent Apple (4) (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6690
Although Dunhill typically sticks to their century-old shape chart, their Quaint series focuses on pipes that break the mold. Presented in Group 4 size, this bent Apple by Dunhill is lightweight and compact compared to other Group 4 Dunhills. The squat bowl tapers slightly to the rim, which frames the capacious chamber. The deeply-bent shank protrudes from the bowl and leads to a vulcanite saddle stem that completes the pipe's sinuous S-curve. Additionally, Dunhill has paired this mold-breaking Quaint pipe with their original Bruyere finish, giving a new-school pipe a historic dressing.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
