Dunhill: Bruyere (5102) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6691
Dunhill's "02" bent Billiard is a design that's survived since the 1930s, and it's easy to see why it's retained such popularity over the years: Stretched of stem, with a gentle, swooping S-curve, yet defined by a firm heel and stately bowl, it's a piece that exudes elegance and poise, the perfect jaw-hanger with an unmatched in-hand posture. In this particular Group 5 offering, the English marque presents it in the stately style of the Bruyere finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
