Dunhill: Root Briar (2208) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6710
Dunhill's "08" shape is rendered as either a rectangular-shanked Bulldog or a cylindrical-shanked Rhodesian. This specific pipe takes the form of a Rhodesian, as a bent, rounded shank meets the familiar muscularity of the beadline-engraved bowl. The Group 2 size puts this pipe firmly in Nosewarmer territory, but there is still ample space to showcase the honey-stained swirls of birdseye and flitting streaks of cross grain, which earn Dunhill's seldom-awarded "Root Briar" stamp.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
