Dunhill: Root Briar Quaint Rhodesian (3) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6712
As part of the Quaint series, this Rhodesian doesn't fall into Dunhill's standard shape chart. Though the Rhodesian is a classic design, this particular rendition doesn't align with the English marque's defined shape numbers. It's reminiscent of Dunhill's vintage "KC" design, only with a broader bowl, a firmer encircling ridgeline, and a stronger degree of taper lent to the rim. The transition is seamless on this piece, leading directly into the arrow-straight shank-and-stem combination, with the hand-cut vulcanite stem tapering gradually to the lip button. This piece is dressed in the marque's lauded Root Briar finish, revealing excellent grain beneath its warm, natural stain.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.-John McElheny
