Dunhill: Shell Briar Quaint Bent Billiard (3) (2020) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-6868

Dunhill's Quaint series features unique compositions that fall outside of the English marque's standard shape chart, with this bent Billiard being a fetching example of what the line has to offer. In Group 3 size, this piece features a squat, upright bowl that stands atop a stretched, flattened heel. Said bowl is positioned at the fore of a high-kicking shank-and-stem arrangement, one that promotes a comfortable, hands-free smoking posture. This design is further elevated by the dark, grain-defining Shell Briar sandblast.

The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
