Dunhill: Cumberland Quaint Rhodesian (3) (2017) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-6930

As part of the Quaint series, this Rhodesian doesn't fall into Dunhill's standard shape chart. Though the Rhodesian is a classic design, this particular rendition doesn't align with the English marque's defined shape numbers. It's reminiscent of Dunhill's vintage "KC" design, only with a broader bowl, a firmer encircling ridgeline, and a stronger degree of taper lent to the rim. The transition is seamless on this piece, leading directly into the arrow-straight shank-and-stem combination, with the hand-cut Cumberland stem tapering gradually to the lip button. This piece is dressed in the marque's signature Cumberland sandblast, offering a lighter contrast palette that reveals handsome grain throughout the stummel.

When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."
