Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Dublin (3) (2018) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-6950

As part of the Quaint series, this Dublin from Dunhill is a notable departure from the "05" shape on their standard pipe chart — the Quaint series being a line devoted to more non-standard designs compared to the English marque's typically classic shaping style. That said, this Group 3 piece remains considerably traditional, but not in the context of classic English shaping. Instead, it caters more toward Danish design cues, the shank elongated and subtly flared while the heel is softer, leading into a forward canted bowl topped with an inflated rim. Dressed in the Bruyere finish, the stummel offers a wealth of captivating grain.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
