Dunhill: Cumberland (3110) (2023) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-6955
This Group 3-sized Liverpool from Dunhill offers the pert Billiard bowl, protracted round shank, and abbreviated tapered stem characteristic to the form, in compact, Nosewarmer dimensions. The shape's light weight and tight-knit proportions make it perfect for easy pocket-carry and on-the-go smoking. This "10" is finished in the English marque's rustic Cumberland sandblast, which draws out rippling waves of grain across the flanks of the bowl and harmonizes perfectly with the stem of brindled vulcanite.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."--Davin Hylton
