Dunhill: Bruyere (3903) (2020) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7135
It's immediately curious when the proportions of a Group 3 Dunhill give it the impression of boasting ODA size. That impression, though, is only the result of this "03" Billiard's extra-short shank and saddle stem combination. While measuring under four inches in length, this Nosewarmer features a chamber of standard depth and a bowl that's almost as tall as the shank and stem are long. Such dramatic proportions are a departure from Dunhill's typically highly traditional shaping, but that's to be expected when prioritizing pocket-friendly size and a lightweight form.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
