Dunhill: Cumberland (4107F) (2021) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7203
Fitted to a straight stem, Dunhill's "07" Prince is lent an even sleeker, more regal form than its gently bent brethren. Rendered in Group 3 size, this interpretation takes on an especially svelte nature, being streamlined through the shank and elongated stem while the bulb-like bowl is perched at the end. Offered here in the deep auburn hues of the Cumberland series, this one is dressed in a tasteful sandblast and paired to a svelte stem of brindled vulcanite. Additionally, this piece is drilled to accommodate a 9mm filter, as denoted by its "F" stamp.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."
