Dunhill: Bruyere (3104) (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7212
This "04" Bulldog from Dunhill boasts all of the form's characteristic features, including a firm-lined diamond shank, a pair of wrapping beadlines, and a tapered rim. The shank's structural lines extend through the transition and lend the bowl a rigid, architectural style of heel, which offers a touch of contrast to the bowl's supple curves. The Bruyere smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights a gorgeous showing of grain, all underneath a dark, smoky stain.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.--Davin Hylton
