Dunhill: Bruyere (4122) (2023) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7217

Rustic and muscular, this Dunhill "22" Poker is a muscular and impressive rendition of a shape-chart standard, elevated by Dunhill's eye for detail. Featuring a wide chamber and thick walls, the bowl of this Group 4 piece rises into a slightly rearward-canting cylinder as it sits atop a flattened heel. The shank pushes out from a slightly elevated transition to meet a sleekly tapering stem of black vulcanite, the thickness of the combination balancing some of the visual weight of the bowl. Dressed in the warm, rich stain of the Bruyere finish, the stummel here showcases handsome grain throughout.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
