Dunhill: Shell Briar (3222) (2023) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7224
A classic, archetypal Poker, Dunhill's "22" design exemplifies the form's cylindrical shaping and sturdy-sitting capabilities, making it a bold and stoic desk pipe. Compared to other makers' versions, The White Spot's lowers the transition considerably, orienting the shank's underside almost in line with the flattened heel. Such shaping both emphasizes the bowl's height in this Group 3 rendition, as well as ensures its stability.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
