Dunhill: Bruyere (3101) (2020) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7290

This pipe is a particularly compact iteration of Dunhill's "01" Apple, presented in Group 3 size, though measuring in at less than five inches long and offering a feathery lightness in hand. Well-suited to travel carry or clenching, this pipe maintains the perfect proportions for which the White Spot is known, with a wide transition giving way to a low-set, cylindrical shank. A sleek, tapering stem pairs to the shank, the slender outline of the aft side doing well to balance the presence of the bowl. Said bowl stands atop a rounded heel and cants forward gently, its walls taking on a slight bit of rounded taper toward the rim, all while leaving plenty of room to showcase the deep stain of the Bruyere finish.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
