Dunhill: Cumberland with Silver (3109) (2023) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7332

Rendered in Group 3 size, this "09" Canadian from Dunhill displays the shape's elongated proportions within a lightweight, compact form factor, making it well-suited as an on-the-go smoker. The bowl is pert and petite, its figure formed by straight sturdy walls traveling from heel to rim. A protracted oval shank transitions from the bowl and joins to an abbreviated saddle stem fashioned from rich, swirling vulcanite, with a bright silver accent adorning the junction for a stylish touch. Complementing the silver accent is Dunhill's beloved Cumberland finish, which dresses the stummel in a crisp, hickory-hued sandblast, save for the rim, which is left smooth for contrast.

When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."
