Dunhill: Amber Flame Stack (DR) (Two Flame) (2022) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7390
Though devoid of stamping, this Stack by Dunhill bears a striking resemblance to the English marque's "12" shape, albeit with a slightly more muscular shank and a taller, more full-bodied bowl. That being said, this piece is distinguished by its Amber Flame designation, which is reserved for pipes with superlative grain. Here, the grain consists of willowy wisps of flame that streak across the bowl's flanks and terminate at a rim populated with birdseye. The sizeable bowl ensures plenty of leisurely smoking sessions, while the sleek shank-and-stem arrangement keeps the form balanced and streamlined in profile. A handsome design packed with charm, this piece is sure to appeal to Dunhill enthusiast and those with an eye for refined simplicity.
One of Dunhill's more recent finishes, the Amber Root was introduced in 1995. Like the Root Briar, it showcases a smooth stain, accentuating the briar's natural grain in traditional style. Typically auburn-hued, the Amber Root is often a touch darker in color than that of the Root Briar, pairing handsomely with the jet-black stem for an aesthetic that combines the grain definition of the Root Briar finish with the darker, smokier tones of the Bruyere. The Amber Flame designates those pipes dressed in this finish that display superlative grain and, much like the Dead Root, have a secondary grading system: Each pipe is graded with flames which increase in quantity as the quality of the grain revealed becomes even more brilliant.
