Dunhill: Chestnut Quaint Bent Billiard with Silver (4) (2023) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7409
Dunhill's Quaint series offers shapes that aren't found on the English firm's standard pipe chart, and for that reason, the pipes in the series are highly collectible and tend to be quite unique, as evidenced by this Group 4-sized bent Billiard. Shape-wise, this piece pairs a tall bowl to a trim shank and a demurely curved tapered stem. The bowl here boasts a dramatic forward cant that keeps the entire shape looking dynamic and active in profile. The languidly arced mouthpiece promotes a comfortable smoking posture and lends a touch of pronounced gesture to the form. The smoky Chestnut smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous grain across the bowl and shank alike, while a sterling silver band adorns the junction and ties the composition together with a dose of flash.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.
