Dunhill: Shell Briar with Silver (2308) (2023) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7451

A unique rendition of the "08" Rhodesian, this piece from Dunhill is presented in petite Group 2 size, but you wouldn't necessarily know that judging by its silhouette. While the bowl and shank are trim and demure, the stem is quite lengthy and languid, its build stretching out the form's measurement. The shape's light weight and the stem's arcing posture ensure this piece will hang comfortably from the jaw. It's all dressed in the dark Shell Briar finish, which highlights gorgeous grain throughout the stummel.

The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
