Dunhill: Shell Briar (3222) (2023) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7462
Dunhill's "22" Poker is one of the English marque's most streamlined and forthright shapes. The bowl and shank possess congruent lengths, and their similar, cylindrical forms create a crisp right-angle at the transition. Furthermore, the archetypal "22" is an ideal desk pipe, as the bowl's flat underside makes for stable sitting. This particular "22" is fitted to a sleek saddle stem, is rendered in standard Group 3 size, and is dressed in Dunhill's craggy Shell Briar finish.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
