Dunhill: Bruyere with Horn (2107) (2023) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-7646
Dunhill presents an incredibly svelte rendition of the Prince shape in this "07" of Group 2 proportions. Featuring a lengthy stem paired to a trim shank, the relative heft of the bowl is balanced by the extended length granted its back half. A fitment of horn punctuates the shank and stem at the junction, one that acts as a sturdy military mount for the stem and lends this pipe a practical bit of functionality. While the length of the pipe brings distinction, a lithe weight is preserved by the graceful profile of the classic Prince shape. Dressed in the warm, rich stain of the Bruyere finish, the stummel showcases a wealth of handsome grain, while the horn accent lends this piece rich contrast.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
