Dunhill: Bruyere (4114) (2018) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7653

Dunhill's "14" shape is a timeless bent Dublin, the gently arced tapered stem meeting an upturned shank, creating a sinuous recurve in concert with the sweeping heel. The proud bowl rises out of the heel with a decided flare, terminating at the rim's edge, the flat surface containing a chamber of surprising breadth. Presented here in respectably hearty Group 4 size, this piece boasts plenty of substance in the hand, and a build that's well-suited to jaw-hanging, all while maintaining a reasonably light weight. Dressed in the rich Bruyere smooth finish, this pipe showcases plenty of handsome grain under a dark, ruby-hued stain.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
