Dunhill: Cumberland (4108F) (2023) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7671

Rendered in Group 4 size, this "08" piece from Dunhill handsomely illustrates the classic Rhodesian with a sense of muscularity all throughout its physique. The bowl's broad figure is formed by sturdy walls flaring from the rounded heel toward a high-set ridgeline that marks a quick taper to the rim. A robust shank and stem join to the bowl out back, the arrangement's sinuous curves offering a comfortable smoking posture. Additionally, this piece has been drilled to accommodate a 9mm filter, indicated by the shape code's "F" stamping. Dunhill's beloved Cumberland finish dresses the stummel in a crisp, earthy sandblast, complemented by the rich, swirling tones of its eponymous stem.

When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."
