Dunhill: King Edward VIII Shell Briar (4) (40/60) Tobacco Pipe

Honoring the 130th birthday of the late King Edward VIII, Dunhill's eponymous special-edition series was released in 2024 and comes packaged in one of the marque's iconic, leather-bound, book-style cases, complete with a certificate of authenticity. For this release, Dunhill has selected the "KC" shape as their commemorative pipe: a vintage Quaint Prince profile that King Edward himself was known to smoke regularly. This shape is a striking one that departs from the standard profile by rendering the top half of the bowl in the style of a Rhodesian, complete with a ridgeline denoting the walls' sleek taper to the rim. A wide transition out back pairs the bowl to a short, cylindrical shank that's met by a sleekly tapering, demurely downturned stem whose subdued curvature affords the shape a gracile charm. The junction here is highlighted by a broad silver band engraved with elements of King Edward VIII's cypher set between two crowns, lending this pipe some lovely contrast and a touch of elegant style.

Included within the leather-bound case is a stunning tamper rendered from sterling silver and cast in the bust of King Edward VIII, whose visage is complemented by a jaunty trilby hat, a pinstripe suit, and a small "KS" pipe of his own. The lower portion of this tamper features a crackling, cobblestone-like pattern and a broad central band that's inset with elements of Edward's royal cypher. This tamper is tall and weighty and engraved with full English hallmarks, rightfully establishing its premier quality. Each pipe's case additionally comes in a unique, green and black, tartan-style colorway that includes a printed image of King Edward on the front, and every pipe in the line is individually serialized, with this particular pipe being the 40th out of 60 in the Shell Briar finish.
