Dunhill: Bruyere (4103) (2022) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-7923

Though stamped "03", this piece from Dunhill bears little resemblance to the English marque's Billiard shape. Instead, the "03" indicates the White Spot's Cavalier design. As a shape, the Cavalier pairs a pronounced bowl to a scaffolding of shank and stem, resulting in a unique appearance that's unlike anything else in the pipe world. Like a usual Cavalier, this piece boasts a removable cap at the base of the shank, a design cue that allows excess moisture to be drained from the airway. Dressed in the striking Bruyere finish, the Group 4-sized bowl boasts a wealth of handsome grain.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
