Tom Eltang: Smooth Retro Bent Stack with Silver Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-299-0738
Tom Eltang's diminuitive shapes are some of his most well-known, but he is able to form some truly impressive larger shapes, as well. This bent Stack is a nod to an older style of Danish shaping, its bowl soft and lifting, with a subtle plumpness to its waistline and a trim taper to the transition. The shank itself is long and lean, sweeping upward, its lines carried through the trim mouthpiece as it ebbs rearward, creating a slight S-curve in profile. On top of that we have one of Tom's dramatic contrast stains, warm and replete with grain — birdseye at the flanks, with a line of cross-grain neatly arranged at fore and aft — paired to a crisp band of sterling silver to accent. As one might expect, the chamber is capacious, and the deep bend should allow for an easy hang from the jaw, despite its slightly larger gait than Tom's usual fare.
