Tom Eltang: Smooth Rhodesian

Product Number: 002-299-0957

While not as common as his signature Poker or Arne Jacobsen designs, this style of Rhodesian from Tom Eltang is a recognizable rendition from the Danish carver. It shares much in common with his iconic version of the Devil Anse — featuring the same compact form, forward cant, and oval shank. In fact, the bowl here is almost identical to the Egg-like shape of his Devil Anse but with two obvious differences. The first is a pair of beadlines that wrap the waistline, grounding the composition in the Rhodesian shape; the second is a touch more subtle, the rim being angled asymmetrically compared to the beadlines. Such a cue accentuates the piece's dynamic momentum and orients the fore of the rim in a pointed, jutting lip in profile.
