Tom Eltang: Smooth Bent Apple with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-299-0992
Simultaneously stout while steeped in implied momentum, this bent Apple from Tom Eltang is a phenomenal marriage of smooth curves and pronounced muscularity. It fills the hand out nicely, while also housing a chamber of considerable depth, surrounded by a generous bit of briar in the chamber walls. The shaping, of course, is what elevates Tom's work, and that skill is on fine display as the bowl maintains its independent shape thanks to precise cheeking at the transition. The grain orientation, of course, is immaculate, with licks of lively flame dancing on the flanks, accentuated by a warm, strong contrast stain, which in turn is contrasted by a comparatively subdued mount fashioned from pale boxwood.- Chuck Stanion
