Tom Eltang: Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-299-0993

Adhering to Tom Eltang's more minimalist style, this bent Dublin caters to conventions of classic Danish pipe design, and it's one of the most conservative renditions we've received from the lauded Danish artisan. Firstly, the overall size is a delight for those drawn to more diminutive pipes — barely over five inches in length and only around 31 grams — providing an effortless smoking posture and versatile dimensions all around. Secondly, the degree of bend displayed by this piece is more restrained than Eltang's more gestural, curvaceous iterations. Such gentle sinuosity through the oval shank and stem work to increase the elegant line work of the composition, as well as provide subtle dynamism realized in the bowl's forward cant. Said bowl, then, is relatively squat and quite thick-walled, emulating the muscular look of a Pot but with the Dublin's conical chamber. Matching the reserved shaping, the palette is tasteful and minimal, but the grain is anything but — swathes of birdseye crown the rim and dot the heel, brought out vividly by Eltang's stunning contrast stain and expert finishing work.
