Tom Eltang: Smooth Horn with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-299-0995
In profile, this Tom Eltang Horn appears diminutive, even dainty. From above or below, however, it's bold, wide, and audacious. The rim is vaguely lenticular, with the side panels of the form rising to the domed surface and providing two short, straight lines at either side of the oval created by the curve of the upper and lower shank and bowl. While a minimalist form, its sheer width impressively houses generous panels of birdseye above and below, with horizontal strands of grain on the rim parallel to the axis of the shank. At the end of the shank the form takes on a truly lenticular shape with a fitment of pale boxwood for color contrast. The mouthpiece tapers slightly in the vertical plane, but dramatically in the horizontal plane. A simple, unobstructed curve of a pipe, it's imbued with remarkable personality in a minimalist form that is impossible to dislike.- Chuck Stanion
