Tom Eltang: Smooth Asymmetric Bent Dublin with Silver (Snail) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-299-1058
A nearly subliminal bend to the shank-and-stem combination expands gradually to the bowl, which is in Dublin form, but asymmetrically so, especially in terms of the rim. That rim is broad and curved, undulating in height, with a pronounced upward flare of briar at the fore, and even more so aft. That rim echoes the shape of the shank and stem for additional implied forward momentum. The contrast stain elevates the remarkable grain climbing the bowl, its separate tendrils well defined and visually enticing. The shaping of the accent band is recognizable as the famous silver accent used by the S. Bang workshop. Per and Ulf trained Tom in the manufacture and application of that world-renowned fitment, offering their blessing for Tom to take the design into the future. Among the first two pipes we've received with the distinctive silver band, this piece promises more to come.
