Tom Eltang: SPC 20th Anniversary Sandblasted Billiard Tobacco Pipe

Tom Eltang's ability to render shape chart standards that remain readily recognizable as his work is truly impressive. The Danish artisan possesses the talent to take a quintessential shape and make it all his own, while at the same time maintaining the heart of the piece's original form. This Billiard is a fine example, its bowl displays a subtle taper toward the rim and is rife with supple curves and gentle lines. The shank maintains a slender disposition before flaring out at the end, leading to a beautiful, tapered mouthpiece that terminates at the comfortable lip button. The stummel has been finished in a light depth sandblast, preserving the bowl's shaping while providing a pleasant tactile experience in hand. It's been left free of adorning accents apart from the smooth rim and section along the shank end to contrast the sandblasted texture. An excellent representation of Eltang's distinct, minimalist aesthetic that highlights his superlative craftsmanship.
