Tom Eltang: Smooth Paneled Bent Dublin Sitter with Horn (Snail) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-299-1173
There is nothing by Tom Eltang that is comparable to this piece in our archives. He's continuously expanding his portfolio, his creative mind constantly finding new ways to present classic shapes. This piece has been awarded Tom's rarefied Snail stamp, denoting exquisite shaping and superior grain, which is well displayed across the narrowly rising and paneled bowl. The panels offer crisp ridgelines, with the forward side encompassing a broader curve than is found on the near side, contributing to the forward momentum of the piece. That forward momentum, however, does not interfere with this pipe's sitting capabilities, which are stolid and firm despite the long stem-and-shank combination and narrow, forward-inclined bowl. Accented by a long fitment of smooth horn, and willowy in overall demeanor, this is a pipe with enough personality to compete with the smoking efficiency known in Tom's phenomenal pipes.
