Tom Eltang: Sandblasted Pencil Shank Billiard with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe

A prolific artisan pipe maker, Tom Eltang has been carving pipes for more than four decades, his expansive portfolio including a variety of shapes catering to his shaping style of supple curves, soft lines and premium functionality. This Billiard fits well into that Danish design aesthetic, the demure, bulbous bowl tapering gently from a plump heel to a softly rounded rim. A much abbreviated shank is then elongated by three slender knuckles of bamboo, the easy integration of the organic material seamless, a testament to the artisan's precision and skill. It's topped by a tapering vulcanite stem, the overall sleekness of this pencil shank piece rendering a lithe, well-balanced silhouette. The stummel is dressed in one of Tom's dark ruby, low-profile sandblasts, the hues contrasting with the weathered look of the bamboo.
