Tom Eltang: Rusticated Squat Poker Tobacco Pipe

As the name indicates, this Poker from legendary Danish carver Tom Eltang is a squat, Pot-like rendition of his signature Poker shape. Sacrificing height in favor of thick insulating walls, this piece features a petite yet sturdy bowl with a flat, slightly angled heel that allows the totality of the design to sit without the aid of a pipe stand. Unlike his typical Poker design, this piece features an oval shank, which, along with the tapered vulcanite mouthpiece, slenderizes the aft side of the composition, making it all the more lightweight and comfortable in hand. Eltang's unique, grooved rustication dresses the stummel and provides ample texture for the fingers to explore and enjoy, save for the rim, heel, and a trim band along the shank end, which are all left smooth and stained a warm ruby hue for a touch of contrast. A sturdy workhorse smoker, this piece offers everything one has come to expect from an Eltang pipe, both in fit and finish.
